At Halifax County United, our programs are designed to nurture players at every stage, from grassroots enjoyment to elite competition. At HCU you will find excellent coaching, a supportive environment, and a clear pathway for growth.
Many HCU programs operate out of the BMO Soccer Centre indoor fields and outdoor turf fields adjacent to that complex, we also offer community programs within our catchment area of Larry Uteck, Kingswood, Tantallon, Timberlea, and Prospect Rd.

The HCU Micro’s Program is designed to introduce young children to soccer in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment. With a strong emphasis on physical literacy and social interaction, this program combines structured activities with free play, helping players develop:
Fundamental soccer skills
Basic movement and motor abilities

New friendships and teamwork

The HCU Mini Program is the foundation of our soccer community, where young players begin their soccer journey in a fun, supportive, and engaging environment. This program focuses on fostering a love for the game while developing foundational soccer skills, teamwork, and confidence.

The HCU U6 Skill Centre Program is designed for young players who are eager to learn, improve, and build a strong love for soccer. This program offers a more structured training environment for U6 players who are ready for an additional challenge while keeping sessions fun and age-appropriate.
Led by HCU staff coaches and following The HCU Way, players develop strong technical foundations, confidence on the ball, and an early understanding of teamwork and game play.
The program includes:
Two training sessions per week
Three seasonal jamborees
Participation in U7 Mini Jamborees, allowing players to continue playing alongside their local friends
Optional attendance at the U7 Mini sessions (Boys Mondays / Girls Tuesdays)
Parents can indicate during registration whether they would like their child to attend the optional U7 Mini sessions.

Designed for committed young players, this program provides a structured and supportive environment where players develop:

The U8–U11 Academy Program is a high-performance development pathway for young players within Halifax County United..
Players must be registered for the Academy Entry Camp to be considered for selection (Academy Entry Camp).
Designed for committed and motivated players, the Academy provides a structured, supportive environment that focuses on long-term development. Athletes will build:
Strong technical foundations
Game intelligence and decision-making ability
Confidence and composure on the ball
Positive training habits and behaviors
Beyond soccer development, players learn the value of sportsmanship, respect, accountability, and teamwork, helping them grow both on and off the field.

The U13-U18 Recreational Program at HCU offers a balanced, player-centered environment designed for players who enjoy soccer and want to continue developing their skills while maintaining a fun and engaging experience. This program serves players in the 13B, 15B, and 18A teams, and provides a great opportunity for those looking to play regularly while participating in a supportive, community-driven atmosphere.
New this season! Our U13B program will be a double age program (2013/2014) with the aim to have a U13B team in four HCU communities this summer season (Prospect Road, BLT, Tantallon, Kingswood).We are seeking a parent Coach(es) and Manager for each U13B team. We have detailed descriptions and an onboarding process for U13B Coaches and Managers and your player will receive a discount off of their summer registration. The Recreational Program provides a structured and supportive environment where players continue to develop their skills while competing in league play.
Training: One practice session per week, focused on skill development and game understanding.

U12-U18 (Competitive) consists of the following teams (12A/AA,13A/AA, 15A/AA & 18AA).
These groups practice 2-3 times per week with one game / week, and teams at these levels generally attend 1-3 tournaments per season. The focus on the continued individual and team development preparing our players for increased commitment to the game at higher and higher levels. Sessions cover the 5 Development Pillars (Technical, Physical, Mental, Tactical and Social Emotional) in a team setting.
HCU offers additional training which is optional extra training that targets the individual needs of the player at this age/stage. Ball Mastery, Physical Literacy, Goalkeeping, Ball Possession Skills, and Shooting & Finishing training blocks - with plans to introduce more individualized programming targeting the 5 Development Pillars.
HCU teams will be participating in the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL). -
Players must attend the scheduled tryout to be considered for team placement.

Our 15AAA & 17AAA program is for players looking to take their game to the highest level.
These players generally aspire to play in College, University and/or in professional environments.AAA teams train 3-4 times per week plus NSSL games.
Our aim here is to provide the highest level of programming while remaining flexible on a player level, where multi sport athletes, Provincial/Excel/Whitecaps/Canada Games/Wanderers prospect players can both pursue those avenues while participating in a club level environment that delivers the highest quality of Coaching, lead by Directors who can connect players to Provincial, College, University, and Professional trial opportunities when the time comes.
HCU offers optional extra training that targets the individual needs of the player at this age/stage targeting the 5 Development Pillars. Mental Performance, Speed training, Strength & Conditioning, Nutrition and Injury prevention blocks are all on the docket for 2026.

If you are looking to bring your Senior (Recreational) team to HCU, HCU handles the registration, ref fees etc.. All of the team logistics that are time consuming to manage as a Player/Manager. We can either provide a uniform or connect you with our partner to produce affordable team branded jerseys. You keep your team name and identity, you focus on enjoying the game.

U3–U5 Micro’s Spring
Soccer Program | 3 WeeksOur U3–U5 Micro’s Spring Soccer Program is the perfect introduction to soccer for our youngest players. Designed to be fun, active, and engaging, this program focuses on building a love for the game through movement, play, and positive social interaction.
Each session is game-based and age-appropriate, helping children develop fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, balance, and coordination, while gently introducing basic soccer skills like dribbling and kicking. Sessions are led by experienced coaches in a safe and supportive environment where players are encouraged to explore the game, try new things, and have fun.
This program is ideal for families looking to keep their children active in the spring and prepare them for future summer programs—no prior soccer experience required.

U7–U11 Spring Soccer Program |
4 Weeks + Weekend TournamentsOur U7–U11 Spring Soccer Program is designed for young players who want to stay active, sharpen their skills, and get ready for the summer season. Over 4 weeks of skill-focused sessions, players will work on technical development, game understanding, and confidence on the ball.
Spring Tournament – World Cup Edition
This program includes two weekends of Small-Sided Game tournaments, giving players the opportunity to put their training into action in a fun, age-appropriate, and lightly competitive environment.
Whether players are new to soccer or already passionate about the game, these tournaments provide a supportive setting where they can build confidence, apply their skills, and enjoy game play with their teammates.
As this is a World Cup year, the tournaments will feature a World Cup theme:
Each player will be assigned a country
Teams will wear or dress in the colors of their assigned nation
Teams will be balanced to ensure fair and enjoyable competition
Team rosters will be shared one week prior to each tournament weekend
This event is designed to celebrate the joy of the game while reinforcing teamwork, creativity, and a love for soccer — all in a positive and memorable environment.
